FAQs

Is asbestos training a legal requirement?

Yes. Employers are legally required to provide asbestos training to workers.

What are the three levels of asbestos training?

Asbestos Training is typically split into three categories:
  • Asbestos Awareness Training - designed for people who do not directly work with asbestos-containing materials, but who may be exposed to risks e.g. plumbers, roofers, plasterers and joiners.
  • Non-Licensed Asbestos Training – designed for people in similar roles to those above but with the added criteria that their work directly involves asbestos-containing materials or will disturb asbestos.
  • Licensed Asbestos Work – designed for any high-risk activities that involve working with, disturbing, repairing, or removing asbestos and asbestos-containing materials (as well as supervising these activities). These must be carried out by licensed contractors.
